The menu doesn’t open: start the Forge 1.8.9 profile, check that the jar sits directly in the mods folder, then press Right Shift in a world.
An effect shows a notice: with an OptiFine shader pack, some features pause or fall back; Motion Blur pauses. Turn the shader pack off to bring them back.
Shader-based effects are missing: they need OpenGL 2.1. Update your graphics driver.
Audio module features are missing: the full Audio module needs Windows 10 (version 1809 or newer). On Linux you get song info and controls; it isn’t available on macOS.
GPU usage shows N/A: it needs Windows 10 or newer, or an NVIDIA GPU.

Reproduce the problem, then close the game.
Open the logs folder inside .minecraft (on Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\logs).
Send latest.log (and fml-client-latest.log, if it’s there) on Discord, with what you did and what happened.

Logs can include your Minecraft username and the servers you joined. Only share them with us, through Discord or email.
